Open Question: I want six pack abs...any suggestions?

This is serious. I want to develop a six pack or at least some good abs. I need some help drawing up a good workout plan. I can't get to a gym right now but I still want to do it. Here's my specifics. I'm: -Male -White -22 years old -6ft tall -165lbs -12% body fat -35 inch stomach circumference -30 inch waist (pants size) -I run on a treadmill 4-5 times a week for 30 minutes each time at 4mph -I do some situps and pushups but without someone to help I'm mostly just working the thigh muscles by sticking them under a couch to hold them down. -I can tell I have ab muscles, but they are under a small layer of stomach fat. Nothing substantial. -I have mostly broken my snacking habits. So that's not a big issue. My eating is not an issue that is mainly under control. I may need to count calories. If I can. I just need to work off that last little bit of stomach fat and replace it with muscle and form a six pack or some good abs. My question is what can I do to build defined abs. Is there stuff I can do inside my house (exercises) that will work or do I need to go out and do some intense working out such as manual labor, as in lifting? If so what kind? I need either a plan of action or some sites that will tell me what to do and you think will have pretty sure fire results. THANK YOU for any help. Please don't make any jokes or troll comments. I really am serious about this. I'm thinking of getting some home workout equipment such as a bow-flex. Is that a good idea?? I can't rely on getting equipment. So please don't base any answer around me getting such equipment. Maybe make it part of the answer but not dependent on my having equipment. ALSO I might join a gym if I get the money and time. People say Planet Fitness is a bad place cause of the "Lunk Alarm" thing, some people say if you get a steady workout going the alarm goes off and you get kicked out cause you can't help but grunt sometimes...is any of this true?? Cause I have a PF around the corner from where I live and I want to know if it's a good/bad idea to join there.

Open Question: weight loss - stop me getting bullied?

I am 13 years old, i am about 5ft 3 and weigh 54kg, i'm not particularly overweight but i get teased at school a lot about it. i would really like to lose some weight because it will make me a lot happier by doing so and i want to get fitter in time for athletics season. I also have stretch marks from it and it really gets me down so losing the weight would be brilliant :) however there are a few problems, - i have a very slow metabolism and can put on weight very fast very easily - i am quite short and am quite a chunky/curvy build (i have very wide hips, a big bum and thin waist) trust me, some of it is just my bone structure - i have low blood sugar naturally so dieting is very hard because it makes me feel weak and exhausted - i crave food a lot - i am too young to go to a gym and my parents would never pay for classes for me - i hate hate HATE going out running - i cant afford expensive gym equipment (i have yoga mats, exercise balls and dumbbells if that helps) - i have a very busy schedule due to school and homework etc so a 30-45 minute exercise routine would help me a lot Please give me advice and answers because i have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder due to the bullying about my weight, i'm getting a lot better but i still feel very upset by my body and embarrassed, i barely ever go to any parties and have skipped school because of it. it would not only help me but it would also help my social life, education and general well-being. additional details: - i horse ride so have naturally short calves (which make my legs look chunkier) - i do have a lot of muscle, you can feel it but you cant see it.. - i don't really want to get any musclier because in my opinion i am muscley enough as it is and don't want to look any chunkier/unfeminine - i do hockey 3 times a week for an hour, i also do fitness for an hour every wednesday and i ride for an hour every week - i would quite like to have fast results, i often get disheartened if i don't see much difference when i have been putting in a lot of work and effort Thank you, it would be great if you could help xo

I'm thinking of joining the nearby fitness center to play racquetball to burn fat and get in better shape. I've never joined a gym before and I was wondering if a racqetball, a racket and goggles are given to me to use at the gym or do I have to buy my own?

Open Question: How to get a flat toned stomach and smaller thighs?

okay so i want to lose some weight before the beginning of july, which is when i go on holiday! mainly I want my thighs to be a lot smaller and more toned and my stomach to be flat and toned. Basically to put it straight out, I want to be able to sit in a bikini and eat lunch without worrying and covering up my belly! My friends are all so skinny, and i don't want to be as skinny as them, but just want a flat stomach!! I just wondered if anyone knew any exercise regimes which i could follow every week up to july to obtain this goal! I'm a member at a gym so have access to all the equipment there, but basically just need a regime that WORKS to stick to for the next 5-6 months or so. I am obviously doing this the sensible way as i'm not wanting to lose all this weight within a week or a month, as i know that involves some sort of starvation and I will just put the weight back on quickly. If anyone experienced has some tips and exercise regimes for me please answer this and help me out! I don't want clueless people telling me an exercise regime that doesnt work, because I don't want it to waste my time... sorry to put it bluntly! But just need someone experienced, like a personal trainer or fitness instructor. Thanks for reading!

Open Question: How to get LA fitness to give lower rate?

I always went to a gym.. rented a house with gym equipment, and moved out. Tons of my friends go to LA fitness on my way home. Right now it's $23 a month, plus first time is first and last, and a starting fee. How can I get a lower monthly payment, or get rid of service fee. They think they are good what they do, how they try to talk their way in. But I MEAN Business. I'm not a member yet, but if I go,

Voting Question: Tips for working out?

Hey. My family, after years of neglecting our bodies, has decided to become fitness freaky. My family already has three cardio machines: treadmill, elliptical, and recumbant bike (i hate the bike due to my height). We also are getting a home gym machine. I enjoy weight training and will be pursueing it seriously once obtaining the machine has happened. So, I am 13 yo, 5'3". I do not believe that weight training will stunt my growth, dont nag me about that. I realize that I will not go from couch potato to ryan reynolds after one situp, but i would like to lose about 20 lbs of fat and build muscle while doing so. I currently do not want a hollywood physique, as it would not look well with my current height. I would like to slowly add toned muscle to my frame over the next several years until I finish puberty (started two years ago, well into puberty). The end result: toned physique, six pack, nice pecs by age 16-17. But for now: healthy weight and slight muscle definition. Do you think my goal is realistic, given the equipment i have, if I use the mhachine 4-5x a week with cardio three times? How much cardio at a time that will be effective but not extremely time consuming due to a hectic middle school schedule? how long does it usually take to start seeing results? What can I do, as a beginner, to make my workouts more effective? Any supplements? Any personal experiences you can share to help me? thank you! Thank you zuzanna. I would automatically pick u as best, but i do this all from my ipad so it doesnt work. Just wanted u to know how much i appreciated your answer.

Resolved Question: Terrified of being a parent.........so conflicted!?

We have been married for a while, in our late 20's, and been talking about having kids. We've always wanted kids, we both have strong maternal instincts, both me and him.  Here's my problem... I proposed I stop birth control and if we do we do, if we don't we don't. My husband is very happy about this and can't stop hugging me and smiling. What originally was something I was happy with, is turning into fear. Immense fear. As much as I want a baby, I worry. We live in a 2 bedroom apt with smoky noisy neighbors who live below us. Our neighborhood is okay at least. The 2nd bedroom is a gym...what will I do with al my fitness equipment? I always wanted a house one day or a bigger place to move in. We can't afford to move right now.  I have a fear of everything changing. Of giving up freedom. BUT I look in the mirror, see the wrinkles form in my face, becoming aware that my youth is dwindling. I get extremely envious of others who have babies/children....I realize that it is time for me to grow up, pass the torch on so to speak. Also I am an only child and my heart aches for a bigger family, I could never havejust one kid and at the age of 27 I better get started. My thinking is...if I let my fear consume me, I will just keep passing it off and passng it off. My best friend tells me if I keep waiting for a perfect time that I will never have children. I'm starting to think she is right. I want to cry right now because I am so conflicted.

Resolved Question: What is a sports testing database similar to Nike's Sparq?

We are owners of a small gym and we have equipment to test our athletes on their physical abilities, similar to a football combine type environment. We would like to find a database to compare our athletes to others using their testing numbers to give them an idea of where they stand from a fitness standpoint. Are there any databases similar to Sparq out there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to setup a home gym and I keep finding good deals online for fitness equipment but I would like to have someone set up what I purchase. Resolved Question: ways to increase fitness - not physique, fitness?

Iv been going to the gym for about 18 months now, and im even beginning to build up my own small collection of equipment, using it regularly. Iv noticed a change in my muscle size, and there has been an improvement in my physique, but not my fitness. When i try running, i get incredibly out of breath by 2-3 miles, usually a 15 minute run, and cycling after only about 30km. Are there any tips on how to increase things like lung capacity, endurance etc, as i actually aspire to complete a marathon and possibly one day, the iron man (100k cycle, 2 mile swim, marathon). Btw, im using an inhaler because of suspicions of asthma, and I am fully aware that this will have a direct effect, but are there any ways to overcome this problem?

Resolved Question: Will this diet plan work?

Wake up 7:00  Have a drink of Orange Juice or Flavoured Water on the bedside table, drink that.  Get ready for school as fast as possible.  Go downstairs have a piece of toast, 50/50 Small amount of butter.  Go to school.  Buy a flavoured water from the bus stop shop and a pack of cheewies.  When it gets to break time, don't eat anything.  At dinner eat 2 crackers and crisps, then have a cheewie.  Have another cheewie at the end of the school day.  Go on just dance 3 or zumba fitness for about 10 songs.  Have a drink of cordial or orange juice.  Have tea at about 5:30, (jacket potato and beans, or boiled potatoes, or potatoes with bread).  Have a drink of Pop with that.  Have a cheewie straight after tea. If hungry, have a piece of fruit or toast.  Sort out school stuff for the day after.  Have a drink of Orange Juice before i go to bed.  Bring one up to bed for the morning.  Go to bed at 9:30 and watch some telly to fall asleep. Bare in mind, that i am only thirteen and can't go to gym and we don't have any exercise equipment in our house. I'm not looking for a dramatic change very quickly but slimmer by July? Will this be possible?

Resolved Question: Losing weigt the right way! Help!?

I'm fifteen, female, 5'5, and last time I checked, I was around 175? I DON'T want to be anorexic. I want to be healthy. My goal weight is 120. I have fibro, so exercise is horrid, but I still do it. Resolved Question: Someone I know works for Fitness First and I'm worried they are getting ripped off or something. Read on.?

For the privilege of working for Fitness First as a personal trainer he has to pay the gym rent. This year he will pay £177 a week in rent to the gym and they have just written to say his contract is up for renewal and if he wants to stay he has to pay £200. The gym do not pay him a penny, and the only money he gets is from his clients, which is hard work for him, finding and maintaining them and encouraging them to stay on. To get clients he works in the gym for free helping people with the equipment and work outs. This was the only job he could get at the time because he had just finished his personal trainer course and had no experience. I think Fitness First could take on as many people as they like and make a fortune from the rent. He should leave and get another job somewhere else really and I think he is considering this. I just think it is wrong to charge so much for rent when they don't pay him. So I don't know if this is wrong for them to do this or what, I guess I want peoples opinions and thoughts.

Resolved Question: Can you use calorie count to convert different workouts (Cardiovascular)?

Lets say if you can't do any running and you want to compensate for this, could you calculate the number of calories you burn off during them runs and then work them out while working out on gym equipment (rower/peddler/bike/cross trainer) or go for a swim (50 lengths in 50 minutes). This isn't for weight loss, specifically for Cardiovascular fitness.

I'm 14 years old, about 6'3" and 300 LBs. (Yeah, I know.) I want to lose weight, simple enough. I just don't know how to go about it. The only equipment I have are some assorted weights, and I live in a small town so I have no access to a gym. I don't want to be "buff" I just want a healthy weight, around 180 - 200 LBs. Could any one give me advice on a fitness program or have another site they could refer me to? Thanks! =) My diet is also pretty bad, so I've decided to eat less. More healthy though, a good diet plan would be appreciated! Thanks again!

Hey, I am a 15 year old girl (I will be 16 in a few months) and I was wondering if you have to be a certain age to become a member of a gym (A mainstream one like Golds gym, planet fitness, Bally) I mean like actually use the equipment on a regular basis. I would probably be with one of my parents most of the time. Also, is there an age requirement for a personal trainer? I would really like to look into that as well. Thank You so much! :D

Resolved Question: To a good personal trainer...advice?

I am staying at a hotel for the next week or so. As with most hotels, the Fitness Center is a bit sparse. There is a treadmill and an exercise bike, plenty of mats for various floor exercises, and a fitness rack that contains the following machines: Lat pull down; leg Extension; one upper and one lower pulley (with carabiner/metal clip connectors); a cable power squat system; a chest fly system; and dip bars...and with some imagination, I may be able to work up a pull up apparatus as well. No free weights. I am open to doing body weight exercises along with anything from these machines. I am looking for roughly hour long workouts (give or take fifteen minutes). In my normal workout environment, I do all manners of programs (i.e. heavy lifting, cardio, Crossfit, etc.). Thanks for your help. PS - I am in a foreign country, so going down to the local gym, or buying other pieces of equipment is out of the question. I'm looking for a bit more specificity in the exercises. Such as, "Dips, 3 sets of 8; Leg extensions, 4 sets of 10, etc." put into a good workout routine for me to follow on a day by day basis. "Different body part each day, 5 days a week" doesn't really help me out...that's why I asked for a "good" personal trainer. I'm looking for a bit more specificity in the exercises. Yes I've been working out for most of my life. But I enjoy direction in my workouts. Otherwise, I wouldn't have asked the question to begin with. Please, if you can come up with a specific workout plan for me, I would appreciate it. Thanks for the answer, joe, but no thanks.

Resolved Question: How many calories does my fitness plan burn?

Not really a "plan" I just go to Golds Gym and... - Run on a treadmill for 15 minutes, it's a 12 minute mile. - Spend about 45 minutes on the equipment, or however long it takes me to use almost each one. I work hard enough on these to feel sore the next day. - 100 sit ups, I do them in four sets of 25, but fast. - Stretch for 10 minutes Then, later that evening, an hour and a half mixed martial arts, it's not very high intensity. I don't really care if you think it's an effective plan or not, all I want is an approximate number of calories I'd be burning by doing this in a day.

Resolved Question: What is the best gym for working out in California?

Me and my friend want to join a gym to start working out, for the many reasons normal people join gyms. We've done some shopping around, but we can't decide which one is the best because all their websites offer the same things. What we want is a gym that we can go in, use the equipment, and leave. Simple as that. But every one of these places seem to offer things like "got to special classes" and "get a personal trainer", which isn't what we want. We just want access to the equipment is all. What gym would be best for that, for the price? I only know of two gyms in my area, L.A Fitness and 24-Hour Fitness. I live in the zip-code area 91325, the Northridge/Granada Hills area. All suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Resolved Question: Opinions on Curves vs. larger gyms?

Curves fitness centers are geared toward women and uses hydraulic resistence machines for their patrons to lose weight. It is a 30 minute workout conducted in a circle of machines in which every other workout station is a space for you to jog or speedwalk. Is this as effective as the workout equipment used at the larger gyms? I want to join but I am not sure that Curves will be an effective mode for me to lose weight. Opinions please. THanks.

Resolved Question: What fitness equipment should I buy?

My employer gives me $800 a year to buy anything fitness related, gym memberships, bicycle, exercise equipment, etc. I already have an elliptical and a rowing machine. I have a bad knee that had two surgeries so far, so it needs to be low impact. I have an inground pool but can't find anything other than dumbbells and weight belts for the pool. I want to get something I won't get bored quickly with. I thought about a $800 bicycle but I don't think I can see myself riding around the neighborhood. Any suggestions on something that's not boring, and $800? Is Bowflex any good?

Voting Question: What is the best home gym equipment for me?

I've been going to Snap Fitness, in case any of you have been in one. I enjoy the machines they have there. I essentially want to duplicate my experience there in my basement. I'm willing to buy one or more machines to make this work. Some of the exercises I'm used to and don't want to give up are: bench press, shoulder press/whatever that almost shoulder press but more circular thing is called, pectoral flies, lat pull, back press, leg press, anything else I might need and have forgotten, and ideally the "gun rack" to hold the bar in place vertically when using the bench. Obviously the cheaper the better, but if you can think of any machine or combination of machines, say so. Please be somewhat specific. I can use Google efficiently and I want an inside point of view from someone who knows more than I can gather from the first 5 pages of Google hits. Thank you. The Titan T1 pretty much includes what I need in one machine. If not for all the reviews I've found claiming it bends or breaks in under a year and claims of problems with shipping, parts, and safety I would have bought it - even at the price tag it carries. Edit: Also, I'm short, so if a machine's seat can't be moved much, that might be bad. To those that said Total Gym, can you say why? Do you have one maybe? Edit (again): The Total Gym does pretty much none of the things that I said.

Voting Question: What do I do about my work situation? Am I not cut out for it (long but fewer answers=greater chance at 10pts)?

I began working as a trainer 2 months ago. There is an onboarding process that lasts 5 weeks where they are supposed to get you started up as a trainer in their company. My 5 weeks didn't go well. I was told to show up 8-8:30 in the morning and would see that the manager nor the fitness manager was there, or was working out, and I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. The fit manager was gone on vacation for over a week during my onboarding. And, he began the same month as I did. The membership manager even stopped me once or twice to tell me that he didn't think I was getting the direction I deserved, that I should go talk to the manager (there are 4 managers - club manager(top dog), membership manager(membership counselors), service manager(front desk) and fitness manager(personal trainers)) They are on a hiring spree and have hired several new trainers and are still looking. All of our hours were cut down, so the new ones could get their promised hrs/week. That just meant we are not allowed to give free sessions anymore. We are all really pressured not to stay on the clock when we don't have clients (hard to find clients if not allowed to be at work). All new members interested in training are sent to the new trainers (about 5 others). The district is really watching, so they are pressuring everyone to get 12 3packs to each trainer. (Btw, I only received 5 in my onboarding and the other guy who started when I did only received 1-2) I talked to a lady on the phone about coming in to train with me but she didn't have a membership. She needed to go through a membership counselor first (who are really pressured to get clients to the new trainers). I told her to come in that night, sign up and I would meet her after to put her in to work out with me the next day. I came in to see that she was assigned one of the new trainers. I had a three pack in my schedule, went in tonight to meet her for her first session, got all of my papers together, grabbed the measuring equipment/calipers, and was even stopped a couple seconds by the manager who was in a much different mood with me - very pleasant/smiling. (For the last month he walks by and raises his eyebrows or gives a quick fake smile with attitude and keeps walking - rude as hell) 4:30 came around, she wasn't there, and I checked my schedule. She'd been moved to a newer female trainer's schedule (just finished her onboarding so it isn't required she receives a certain number of clients). They couldn't even tell me. Call me. They let me run around and get all my stuff together and even talked to me like they didn't know. My gas light has been on most of the day. I asked my fit manager and he replied several minutes later that she'd been double booked - which I'm sure is impossible. I really like training. I hate the sales. I hate how dirty certain employees can be (manager mostly, other trainers). I don't like the way I'm treated. I know I'm a good person. I know members should trust me before certain others. I'm not allowed to give free sessions (great for selling further sessions). I'm not allowed to make business cards. I'm not allowed to go around on the clock if I'm not with a client. No new members are given to me. If I bring someone in to the gym, they'll just have to go through a membership counselor and will be given to a new trainer. All I can do is try meeting new clients on floor on my own time, ask them to meet me when I am on the clock, and pay for sessions. It is difficult because we get mostly the same people everyday, same time. All new members are asked and asked about personal training. All old members have been asked. Membership counselors are now required to walk the floor every 30 minutes to try to sell training. I only have two regular clients now. My recent few attempts at new clients were screwed - jumped at and given to new trainers. I've only been here two months. I don't want to quit. I'm afraid of getting fired. I really want to succeed. I really want clients I can work with. If I could, I would lower the price of my sessions. I honestly don't think twice about the money. Is it just the particular company/club I am working for? Am I being treated unfairly? Or am I just not cut out for it? Is there anything I can do to get around all of this and start succeeding/bringing in more clients?

Resolved Question: Is this serious boxing motivation even worth it? (Disappointed 16 year old boy)?

Sup yahoo answers , i'm a 16 year boy who is seriously motivated about boxing (my grandpa was a boxer , very strong 6'2 who lived a very long age and could jog at 84 years) , i want to train , if found that i'm good , maybe even go for amateur . Problem is , my dad is a very hardworking man and i only live with my sister and him only , i can not have a ride everyday and when i tell him to give me a ride , he gets mad because only the nearest boxing gym in our part in Virginia is like 28 min driving and more . I can not say a lot because he works out-of-state ( MD) so he drives a lot everyday plus he works in the car business so he drives to a lot places and comes home at 4-5p.m tired plus he hates his job . However , i found a gym , and it's 25 min driving but its only two days (Mon , Thurs from 7:30-8:30 pm) Very small gym since its a fitness gym also have all the equipment and indepent rooms for muay thai and mma. so i guess it's ok .He says it might be possible if he only drops me off there and my sister will pick me up . (I can not have a car because they dont the money yet) Do you guys recommend me to keep tryng to find a close gym? Even if the gym is small (which i think it is) should i stop going there or just be comfortable with what i'm available with . Plus if i wanna go to a good college and i'm junior in H.S , should i forget about my passion which is boxing for once and for all and just focus which will be my most possible future , school and engineering . I need help my brothas , i really wanna work out both of these things (school and boxing)but i can't give up ,i aint tryng to quit . BTW i'm 5'7 120 pounds which is skinny but i'm healthy and in shape(bad eating habits but willing to change and not be in a negative mood) I'm willing to put on hard work on whichever i need . Thanks.

Resolved Question: How much to start my own fitness gym?

So I want to start a small fitness center with 2-3 large rooms with wrestling pads throughout. Focus on personal training sessions for boot camp based fitness & combat conditioning. Also I will teach classes featuring tabatas, interval training and kickboxing. I'd need about 5000-8000 sq ft on one floor. I'm in the portland, oregon area. equipment would be jump ropes, free weights, plyo boxes... no big expensive equipment... just the basics... With a few years of MMA training, ACE certification and bringing in other trainers, we should have enough expertise to get going. Any ideas on insurance costs, licenses, utilities, etc.???

Voting Question: I need some gym instructions?

My husband and I just joined a gym and are starting this afternoon. I have been to a gym before, a few years ago, and I am familiar with the equipment, but my husband is brand new. We joined a 24 hr gym locally (anytime fitness) that fits our schedule great. We are both EMTs. So I actually kinda have a 2 part question. What would be a good workout routine for us? Part 1: Me. I know we would need 2 different routines, and we can help each other which is great. I am a bit overweight and am looking to lose weight and work on my upperbody strength. I know I will work out lower body as well, but those are my main goals. I was thinking of the elliptical (thats the one where ur kinda going upstairs and running at the same time right) but I don't know what settings and for how long or what my target heart rate should be. And then some of the other strength machines. But which ones? Part 2: the harder part of the question, my husband. He is very overweight and has a foot issue. He could do the bike and some of the strength training. But there again, what settings and for how long? I ask all this cause we can't afford a personal trainer and this community has helped with so much in other areas, so please help me again this time. Thanks!

Resolved Question: Does YMCA have good sports/track equipment to be used in the NORTHEAST Coast YMCA Gyms?

I'm currently a professional wrestler in training, but I just started out about a few weeks ago. What we did on our most recent class session near the end was grab the top rope on the outside standing on the apron, sling ourselves into the ring by that ropes leverage, somersault and then land onto our backs in the safest manner possible. The problem here was I couldn't execute it safely. So what I'm looking for is starting techniques to work my way up to the more extreme and risky maneuvering that I've just explained in short detail. I'm currently a member of Retro Fitness, but I'm hoping to leave there hopefully if YMCA has the track equipment that I want. What I was wondering is this: From what you know, is there any advanced equipment used for gymnastics/aerial/track purposes (Hurdles, Steeplechases, Running Tracks, Long Jumps with Pits, Padded Mats, etc.) in the Northeast Coast YMCA Family Gyms, possibly including the one in Trenton, New Jersey or Hamilton Square, New Jersey closest to where I live? If you can't tell me for sure on what those specific Weight and Sports Centers have, what is more likely that they have for sports practices that members could use around your area's YMCA? Thank you very much and ten points for best answer.

Resolved Question: Staying in shape for the winter?

During the summers I swim for fitness, there's nothing I love more for keeping in shape, but the weather has turned against me. I've tried yoga, pilates, and aerobics and they all bore me to tears. I've given up my gym membership to save the money and don't like the idea of going back. I run 4 miles several times a week but I'm looking for an exercise that targets my triceps and deltoids. The closer I get to 30, the more I'm concerned with keeping my upper arm area tight. I'm not looking for bulk, I just want to stay toned. I'm not opposed to the idea of purchasing inexpensive free weights, but would much rather find a quick exercise routine without equipment to do daily. Suggestions?

Voting Question: What do you do if you are stuck on a contract with a gym?

I love going to the gym and going 6 days p/week I get my monies worth but I was sick of the ladies gym I was at that was more like a mothers club as they chit chatted and hogged all the treadmills so I went to a new one that opened near by - mixed. I didn't get to look at it first as there was cheap memberships b4 they opened and I thought 'new' what have I got to loose. Turns out that it has plenty of weight equipment but nothing to offer, no spa, pool, sauna tanning, massage facilities or even comp. toiletries only 3 showers, small mirror and soap at the basin, at least the other fitness centres I went to they had some of the above but what gets me is that they're the most expensive!! What's worse is they gym is now loaded with 18 yr pretentious delusional guys that stare so bad and make noises at you when you are trying to work out. They bring girlfriends to follow them to each workstation while they watch. I feel I have been ripped off I hate it and want out. What should I do?

Resolved Question: What gym should I go to?? Help!?

So about a year ago I joined a gym called Bodyplex. I really love the equipment and the classes, especially spin class. I have recently gotten into cycling and I feel that the spin classes help train me and keep my fitness up. But the problem is, next year I think I want to join my high school swim team and Bodyplex does not have a pool. If I'm going to have a chance of getting on the team I need to start swimming laps. There is a YMCA close by my house that has a pool, AND spin classes too. But the classes are definitely not as good as Bodyplex's and I don't feel like I get a good workout from them. So here's the question: should I focus more on cycling and stay at bodyplex? Or should I continue riding my bike without taking spin classes and swim at the YMCA? I enjoy cycling with my friends but I've always wanted to do a team sport and swimming is a lot of fun. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Resolved Question: Abs workout for 15 year old?

m a 15 year old male. In quite skinny and I would really like to gain more muscle, my target areas are abs and arms. I do actually have a gym membership but at the moment I just can't afford it at the moment. It's £3 a go, and when I've got friends and family birthdays which are they big ones such as 16 and 18, I feel I NEED to spend on my friends and family. I'm not very sporty. I don't like football (don't judge), rugby or any of the main sports. I do like swimming and some sports such as hockey ect. I have regular PE lessons at school. Diet. I do try to eat healthily. I've been told a lot about "eating protein filled foods". But do I really need it? I don't cook my meals, my mother does and I can't afford to buy specific protein bars or whatever. I do regular small exercise usually before bed such as press ups and sit ups. I haven't done recently because Ive been going to bed later because of the holidays and not having enough time. Will press ups and sit ups help me? I went to gym today and did cardio. I do not have access to weights or fitness equipment at home. Any advice or help will be greatly recieved. My aims are to have visible abs and I know that will take a while with hard work.

Resolved Question: Where can I find a gymnastics fitness workout routine ?

I am going back into the gym after not going for a few years and I am looking for a workout schedule. I have access to a gym and a track so equipment is not a problem. I want something that says what type of equipment, how long and what speed/intensity. For example: elliptical for 20 minutes, speed 6mph. Something like that. Thank-you very much!
